Please click link to view tournament info and registration. For other tournament details or Louisiana Chess clubs go to cajunchess.com . Hi all! We used to go to a chess club in Slidell ran by Scott Campbell; we had solid players meet almost every Friday. Unfortunately, Scott moved away this past September & the chess club dissolved. The main reason being Scott would open a room for us @ St. Lukes Catholic Church. We now have three solid players working together to form a new chess club in Slidell. We also have the emails to the former nine players at the previous chess club; we plan to contact them to see if they are interested in being apart of our endeavor. We need a new venue for the Slidell Chess Club that will meet on Thursday at 6:30 or 7 pm. If any one has ideas or a quiet place to play please let us know. We want to build a strong chess community here in Slidell and on the Northshore. It's unfortunate that most clubs are in New Orleans and all tournaments are in either N.O., Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Lake Charles. No one at the Slidell Chess Club has to have any kind of membership to any chess federation, (USCF, Louisiana Chess Association, FIDE, etc), nor are there any dues. It was and still will be come & go as you please. Also all levels are welcome. The title of this post is misleading, there isn't a new chess club being formed, but the Slidell Chess Club continuing & growing. We envision local chess players teaching one another, to the end that we would develop into a formidable chess club. We welcome your comments, questions, or suggestions by blog post. |
